Columbia City Bakery: Reviews & Ratings
I wish I had photos to share cause the cinnamon roll I had was huge, light, and packed full of flavor that by the time I was done I wanted to wait in line again to get a new one. They offer tons of other food besides that all of which looked and smelled phenomenal.
Delicious local bakery in the Columbia City neighborhood. I bought chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies this visit. The chocolate chip cookies are baked with walnuts and toffee. Delicious! They have lots of other tasty options including scones, croissants, sandwiches, and coffee. PS If you found this review helpful, please "heart" it. Thank you!
This bakery is unreal. Every pastry, bread, quiche, everything. So delicious, so well portioned. The coffee and espresso are very good but you should really try to get everything on their menu. You won't be sorry for waiting in the long line. Friendly, efficient service and great prices.
A mainstay in Columbia City with regular weekend lines around the block, this bakery offers well-executed classics plus some creative twists and flavor combinations. I visited on a weekday to avoid the crowds and that's what I'd recommend! I started with an Alaska breakfast sandwich and a chorizo hand pie, both tasty! The Alaska is served on a very unique sourdough biscuit—somewhere between a biscuit and an English muffin, maybe? It has a nice texture. You absolutely can't miss their seasonal Danish. When I visited, it was plum and cream cheese. The sweet plum, creamy cheese, and flaky crust are an outstanding combo. Another standout is the savory bread pudding. I'm not sure if this is a regular offering, but if not, it absolutely should be. The texture is amazing, especially warmed up, with gooey cheese and crispy bits of bacon. Other favorites for me are the mini fruit pie (or the whole fruit pie, if you're serving a crowd), the coffee cake, and any of their focaccia slices.
I had a walk-in visit one day and got a traditional croissant. In fact, I got two because they sell everything in boxes of two (which definitely pisses me off). The croissants look more American than French, you know, like an apple pie or a mushroom turnover, but they taste surprisingly not bad at all, and the cross section reveals some really crafty lamination. Columbia City Bakery currently only opens two days a week from 10a to 3p, so it's not easy to get something casually from them. Maybe I'll come back when their operations come back to normal.
Passed by this place on a Saturday. There was a good queue of people outside waiting to place their orders. It took about 10 minutes or so to get the order in and about another 5 or so minutes to get the order. Looked like there was a good selection of items. Ordered a curry potato and cauliflower hand pie. It was very warm on the outside and a little cool on the inside. The dough was very flaky and a little oily. It was very filled which was nice. I wish I had a little bit of salt to bring out more of the curry flavor. Also ordered a couple of blondies. Liked it because it was a nice big cookie shaped like a brownie. Would be good with some vanilla sauce.
Columbia City Bakery is by far the best bakery in the area. I ordered cinnamon twist, lemon bar, and lavender lemon cake. They all were phenomenal. The lemon wasn't too over powering. I can't wait to come here again. Must go if you haven't already. Columbia City Bakery has limiting seating but there is a park close by so you can head over there. Also they sell out pretty fast so get there early.
They make the best peanut butter cookies. I live in Olympia and I've tried to find good peanut butter cookies closer. But none compare. I'll make the drive.
